Sub-processors

A few specialist companies help us run Walt. This is the full list of the ones working for us today, what each one does, what family information it handles, and where. Your family's database, voice recordings, and photos are stored in Canada. Videos are delivered through Cloudflare's global network, and some helpers process information in the United States.

Our commitment
We will tell member families before we add or replace any company that handles family content, with time to ask questions. A family that does not agree can take a full export of its archive and leave. Every company on this list works under a data processing agreement, may only use your family's information to run Walt, and may not use it for anything else, including training AI models. Walt never uses facial recognition.
Planned, not yet active
Two additions are planned but are not handling any family information today: WhatsApp (Meta Platforms) as an optional notification channel, and standard error monitoring tools. We will notify families before either becomes active.
Data credits
Walt's birthplace suggestions are built from the GeoNames geographical database, adapted (filtered and reformatted) for Walt and used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence. GeoNames handles no family information and is not a sub-processor. It is a public dataset built into the app.
